As the most prominent and attractive venue it is to play host to the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of The Singapore Youth Olympic in 2010. Situated in heart of Marina Bay area, with the skyline of Singapore’s business and financial district, along the coastline packed with lush and blossoming greenery as the back drop and along with Singapore Flyer standing as guard. The stadium was built in 2007, this exquisite architectural delight was built within short span of 13 months (phew so much of hard work and oh my god just this much time!) by April 2007. this idea was conceived by organizing committee of National Day Parade for the new venue of the National Day Parade as the National Stadium was going to get demolished and in year 2004 the idea was struck to Teo Jing Siong for this floating stadium for this place is amazing with amazing backdrop and by 2005 the committee in lieu with Urban Redevelopment Authority and Singapore Sports Council started the design for this floating platform which could be also used for major events. SembCorp Marine started construction of floating platform in March 2006 and here we have the marvelous and astonishing platform and seating gallery completed by April 2007.
Keeping in mind not only about its size and the load, but also they made sure that it could be relocated and reconfigured as when to meet the requirements of different events. The platform has been equipped with numerous innovative features, like an internal drainage system, lightning rods for night time events and cabling structures. Giant screens are and big boards displaying scores are there to see the game’s close up and score. It is made entirely of steel measuring to 120 meters long, which is some five percent larger then soccer field of National stadium and it is some 83 meters wide. This place is amazing as it can bear up to 1070 tons of weight which can include 30 ton military vehicle! With 9000 people and 200 ton stage props and much more the floating stadium is mind blowing construction. The gallery can seat with 30,000 people capacity. The place is so stunning and definitely visual feast for sports players, athletes and soccer players with their supporters and audience. This place will always give you good memories for every game played, watched or for every trophy won.
